Currently on view at the Johnson-Kulukundis Family Gallery, Byerly Hall of the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, the exhibition “Gala Porras-Kim: Precipitation for an Arid Landscape” is one in a series that also includes presentations at the Amant Foundation in collaboration with Kadist, Gasworks London and the Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis later this month. Each venue presents a unique set of artworks that reconsiders the status of objects and their lives beyond the museum collections that guard them. As museums are grappling with questions surrounding the origins of their collections, this exhibition provides another set of strategies for thinking through issues of for reconnecting the items in the collections with their spiritual life and original functions.
