Héctor Zamora will participate in the 3rd edition of “Les Extatiques”, an outdoor exhibition in Paris, which will take place from June 26th to October 4th, 2020.
“Les Extatiques” deals with contemporary works of art installed on the esplanade of La Défense, an emblematic place in Paris, and in the gardens of La Seine Musicale. The works are specially designed for the event, creating a dialogue with its surroundings.
This year's edition is titled “Rien à voir”, which means: nothing to see, in the sense that the works presented are improbable, because they challenge the senses, gravity, the logic or codes of power.
Héctor Zamora presents “ZIGZAG”, a labyrinth created especially for this edition that plays with the hidden and the visible, with the shadows, the sun and the architecture of Paris. Constructed with openwork terracotta bricks, which give transparency to the walls and allow the summer breeze to enter. Permeability is key; the visual pattern of the bricks multiplies its effect when the walls overlap, the silhouettes of the bodies move through these walls and the shadows redraw and reconstruct the pattern of the floor. It is a unique experience reminiscent of modern architecture in the tropics and that, in the middle of the La Défense esplanade, embodies a playful freshness that invites us to relax and lose ourselves within its walls.
