Starting this August 28th at Bergen Kunsthall (Norway), Jorge Satorre will participate with other artists in “The Ocean”, an international group exhibition that seeks to explore the relationship of Bergen and the sea. Artists and designers present projects that map the issues that connect to the topic of the sea: as a border and an infrastructure of relations, as a resource and a hazard, as a concrete reality and a field of imagination.
Jorge Satorre will present a sketch that illustrates his proposal for an unrealized public artwork: the artist imagined a concrete mural that would represent a detail of the 1000 kronen bill, one of the five Norwegian bills currently in circulation that commemorate the importance of the sea in Norwegian culture. Satorre intended to carve out of the soil the scene represented on the bill, using it as a mold to then cast it with concrete. The mural would then be erected on site.
Until October 31th, 2021.
